After posting in photo BBS of dPrevie I recieved several question about lighting condition and black background on this flower image as
So I would like to expalin the conditon with three images captured last night in my 'Living studio'. At first I have to say that this composition is a result from my trying to simulate the unique image by Akiyama Shotaro, the most famous photographer especially of portrait and flower, for example, as shown at a WWW site
I usually use two of key items.
1) First and third image: Thin and white diffuser contained in Kenko 5 way reflection panel. As shown in third image, relative positioning of the diffuser and 550EX is important to avoid flared reflection fo 550EZ from background paper and to get well rounded lighting for the subject.
2)Third image: The black paper for photo studio obtained at big camera shop is hanged as shown. It may be important to keep plain surface and slightly slant to avoid flared reflection.
3)You could enjoy a unique combination of EOS30D and AiNikkor 50mmF1.2S with metal food. EOS is set in M mode and focusing is done at fully opened aperture. I usually stop down F5.6 which is the best position of the lens, I think.
4)The third image shows my positioning of the moment of TIMER releasing. Of course the ceiling light should be turn off, so the room become perfectly dark.
5)550EX is set on Manual mode and power of flash is controlled by decreasing, for example, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32. The best position is determined by test releasing following with viewing on PC located at next room......
That is all information about Living Studio of mine and it may be very simple. I hope you try it and would like to enjoy your works at dPreview forum.
